The castle today

Majestic 12th century mediaeval fortress built on a rocky spur dominating the Gorges du Tarn.

Description Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, Peyrelade Castle was one of the most important fortresses in Rouergue during the Middle Ages, thanks to the position of its natural rock keep, which allowed it to command the Tarn Valley.
Today, the tour allows visitors to discover the history of the site, its unique architecture, as well as the extensive restoration and excavation work undertaken over the past 30 years.
The tour concludes with a climb to the rock, which offers a spectacular panorama of the valley and the Tarn Gorges. A scenic tour with models, interpretation tables, and a video.
